Sleeping in Airports

Locations in this article:  Tampa, FL

When you look at the mounting airline delays and cancellations, there’s a growing possibility that you’ll be spending the night in the airport one of these days. So if that has to happen, check out sleepinginairports.com, a Web site that actually rates the best and worst airports to spend the night in.

To make life—or napping—maybe a little easier, choose an airport that actually has a hotel located inside the airport, like the Hyatt Regency at the DFW airport, the Fairmont Vancouver at Vancouver airport, or the Hyatt at the Tampa airport are good examples.

And, since necessity if the mother of invention, check out the latest travel product: it’s called the Mini-Motel. It’s actually a one-person tent created for stranded airport passengers, complete with air mattress, pillow, bedsheet, alarm clock, reading light, toothbrush and toothpaste. They’ve even thought of earplugs and eyeshades. It’s about $40. Wow. Let’s just hope the plane’s on time.
