Travel Tip: Pet-Friendly Hotels That Go Above And Beyond

Sure, plenty of hotels claim to be pet-friendly, but definition can vary. On one
end of the spectrum are hotels that tolerate pets; then there are those that go
above and beyond for man’s best friend.

Some of the more welcoming pet-friendly hotels, like Kimpton and Loews, will
provide treats upon check-in and have plenty of resources and amenities on hand.

At the W hotel in Scottsdale, not only do you get welcome gifts and a doggie
bed, but they actually have something called…doga. No, I am not kidding. You and
your dog can participate in a yoga class taught by a local…well, “doga”
instructor.

One of the wackiest programs out there comes from Loews Coronado in San Diego,
which includes a one-hour surf lesson for your dog. Naturally, that comes with a
pair of board shorts and a bandana for your pup.

And then there are vacations that are geared more towards your dog than you.

Camp Dogwood outside of Chicago is a year-round overnight camp for pets, where
owners also welcome. Activities for the dogs include hiking, water sports and
Frisbee, while their human companions can learn things like dog training and
nutrition.

You know, you really can’t make this stuff up.
