Fantasy Baseball Camp: Training Like a Yankee, Part 6
Tonight the team takes our coaches, Oscar Gamble and Homer Bush, along with the minor league team staff to dinner at a nearby steak house. As the week progressed we got closer as a team. The average age for our bunch was 51 by far the youngest team or camp I’ve been a part of. We had one guy 39, a couple of 40s and our oldest was 64. We came from five states- Florida, Alabama, California,Louisiana and Georgia. Ironically not one New Yawker in our midst. Just 12 guys living their fantasy for a week brought together by their age, love for baseball and in this case the Yankees. Fun week, fun group.
We ended the day telling a typical fantasy camp story that happened this morning. During our game at Steinbrenner Field, a retired couple from New Jersey, big Yankee fans, came into the stadium not knowing what was going on. After watching fantasy baseball for about 5 minutes Joe turns to Millie and says “I sure hope they get better by April!”
So do we Yankee fans!
