After 7-Hour Tarmac Delay, Who is to Blame?: A CBS Early Show Report

This past Saturday was one of the largest violations of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Passenger Bill of Rights. Due to a massive and unexpected snowstorm, JetBlue Flight 504 was held on the tarmac of Bradley International Airport near Hartford, Connecticut for over seven hours.

Currently, neither the airline, nor the airport have been fined for the delay. According to DOT legislation, any plane held on the tarmac for longer than three hours could result in an airline having to pay a fine of $27,500 per passenger. Jetblue had 129 passengers aboard the flight, which would result in a fine of more than $3.5 million.
