Chilean FlagA 7.2-magnitude earthquake shook Chile again Thursday just before the country prepared to swear in its new president.

Thursday’s earthquake was stronger than the 7.0-magnitude quake that devastated Haiti in January. Soon after, two aftershocks measuring 6.9 and 6.0 rattled the foreign dignitaries and journalists on hand for the inauguration.

The tremors were a fitting reminder to everyone present at the ceremony that reconstruction will be the new president’s top priority. But what will he have on his agenda?

Cruise Ship Hit By WaveMassive 26-foot waves slammed into a cruise ship in the Mediterranean yesterday near Barcelona, Spain, killing two people and injuring several more.

The huge waves smashed through windows sending water gushing into the public areas on the forward bow of the Greece-based Louis Cruise Lines ship, the Louis Majesty.

The abnormally high waves have been called “rogue waves” by some, but did they really come out of nowhere? And is this something that could happen on your next cruise?

Earthquake DamageA massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Chile over the weekend killing hundreds and leaving thousands homeless.

Two days after the quake, the death toll has climbed to more than 700 and large parts of the country remain without water and power as citizens continue to sift through the rubble.

Even though this earthquake was 500 times more powerful than the one that shook Haiti in January, the disaster in Haiti killed more than 300 times as many people.
