Mansion House proprietor Susan Goldstein & engineer Brian Nelson All eyes are on Martha's Vineyard as President Obama and his family (with First Dog Bo in tow) returns for their second annual vacation to the island. But in one landmark inn, currently hosting the White House press corps, there are things taking place below the surface that visitors can't even see.

If you're reserving a hotel for the first time, it pays to look before you book, and we're not just talking about skimming the hotels' Web site.

Oyster.com has more than 200,000 unedited photos of hotels and resorts worldwide. The photos were taken by undercover journalists, not the hotel's marketing team. So if you see Ken and Barbie frolicking by the pool, you can bet they were actually there!

The site also posts reviews from these undercover guests, which means they're not being wined and dined by hotel executives in order to get only positive feedback.

Another online resource called TVtrip.com showcases more than 134,000 hotels in thousands

Travel columnist Joe Sharkey of The New York Times sat down with Peter to discuss the latest in travel news.

Joe Sharkey: Peter, you were recently talking about Ireland. I highly recommend if you have the time getting on a horse, and just sort of trekking through Ireland. It's just marvelous. Anyway, about those airline fees …

Peter Greenberg: You bet I want to talk about airline fees. Spirit Air has begun kicking

Reduce, reuse, recycle … restraint? Not exactly buzzwords associated with Los Angeles. Leslie Garrett, The Virtuous Traveler, reports on the suprisingly eco-friendly elements she discovered in the City of Angels.

Contrary to popular belief, Los Angeles locals will tell you their city is not an eco-sinners' mecca. Rather, they say, it's surprisingly green.

And not the kind of green that comes adorned with a president's face, though there's plenty of that, too.

There's kid friendly, and then there are hotels that really go the extra mile by hiring an on-site kids concierge.

For example, the new kids concierge at London's St. James Hotel can tailor an itinerary for each child. That way you're not forcing your 15-year-old to participate in the same activities as a 5-year-old. A younger traveler might visit Treehouse Towers, while your teen may opt to see the Brooklands motor-racing circuit.

The Athenaeum hotel has its own kids concierge, games and activities, plus an online tool where you can submit your requests for activities and excursions. As you may have guessed, the concept of a kids concierge is big in London,
