Travel Tip: Wineries That Offer More Than Wine

Locations in this article:  Santa Barbara, CA

wine_circleIf you’re a wine lover but your travel partner isn’t, you don’t necessarily have to split up when it’s time to visit the wineries. More and more wineries are offering additional activities beyond the tastings.

An obvious choice is to find a place that hosts winemaker dinners and pairings.

But you can also think outside of the box: How about visiting a winery that also doubles as an art gallery?

The award-winning McKeon Phillips in Santa Barbara County is run by a professional artist, and has a 45-foot wall to display the works of local California artists, as well as art openings every other month.

In Sausalito, California, Bacchus & Venus tasting rooms showcases a collection of Wine Country-inspired art. Remember that where there are grapes, there’s likely to be other types of agriculture to explore.

In Verde Valley, Arizona, San Dominique winery is known for both wine … and garlic!

In fact, they sell 65 garlic-related products along with its wines. Don’t worry, garlic wine isn’t one of them.

While you may not associate Florida with wine, a place called Schebley Redland’s Winery near the Everglades is known for its fruit wines, as well as hosting live music events almost every Friday night.

And when summer rolls around, expect to see even more outdoor concerts among the vines at venues like Chateau St Michele in Woodinville, Washington.
