Travel Tip: Exotic Volunteer Opportunities In The USA

You’ve heard about working with elephants in India and Thailand. But did you know that there’s also an elephant sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee?

Visitors are invited to participate in volunteer days to help at the facility.

Turtle conservation is a common volunteer experience in Costa Rica, but if you prefer to stay closer to home, how about Barnegat Bay, New Jersey? This area is home to terrapin diamondback turtles, and there are ample opportunities to help out with Earthwatch Institute and other organizations.

The Peace River Refuge and Ranch in Florida has a variety of exotic animals. Now, keep in mind, untrained volunteers are unlikely to interact with the animals, but there are plenty of ways to help out.
