10. How did Peter Greenberg get his start as a travel writer/editor?

From his early days as a student journalist at the University of Wisconsin, Peter was traveling: covering the Middle East, Apollo moon launches, anti-Vietnam war protests in Washington. Later, as a correspondent for Newsweek, he found himself on a plane virtually every week to somewhere in the world. It was during this time he realized that no one was covering travel — or the travel process itself — as news. He then used his access as a Newsweek correspondent to be thoroughly immersed — and in some cases — trained in that process. Soon, he was covering travel and air safety as a beat for Newsweek, and shortly thereafter began the first nationally syndicated investigative column devoted exclusively to travel.
