California’s Wine Country is the ideal setting for intimacy. With wineries, charming restaurants, intimate hotels and endless rolling hills, it offers the perfect setting in which to pop that very important question.
Whether you’re enjoying a bike ride along quiet country lanes, having a picnic lunch or indulging in a five-course meal at a French restaurant, wine country is the spot to toast a lifetime of happiness together (with an award-winning Cabernet) because in a setting like this, the answer to that question is sure to be a resounding “yes.”
From 5-star resorts to informal inns, the valley is teeming with options. Since opening its doors in 2007, Solage Calistoga has been my go-to hotel recommendation. There’s a Michelin-star rated restaurant, a spa, 83 studio-style accommodations and six suites.
You will pay for those pampering extras at luxury hotels, so bed and breakfasts are a good alternative for travelers on a budget. The Hennessey House features cozy accommodations and their caramel French toast is a consistent palate pleaser.
