Recovery efforts are continuing and rebuilding efforts are just starting in Haiti. The death toll is more than 150,000 and everyone still needs your help.
Just because it’s not on the front pages anymore, doesn’t mean it’s not still front-page news.
Over the weekend, Peter spoke with Jonathan Aiken of the American Red Cross in Washington, DC.

Let me now present my most recent award for stupidity in action. Earlier last week I spoke about the new security rules put into effect after the December 25 incident in Detroit.
And one of them—initiated by both the Canadian and UK governments—is to limit carry on bags to one small bag.
Can someone please tell me what this will accomplish?

In the wake of the incident on board Northwest Flight 253 on Christmas Day, airlines, airports and the TSA wasted no time in imposing new rules, procedures and protocols.
Almost all of them are guaranteed to make your next trip to the airport and your next flight experience even worse than you’ve already experienced.
The problem with this knee-jerk reaction, of course, is that it also sends the wrong message about airline and airport security: that it’s not effective to begin with, but more on that later. Keep reading to find out more about the new rules.

You may have heard the news that United Airlines is ordering 100 new planes: 50 from Boeing, 50 from Airbus.
It sounds great, but it raises the question—who’s going to pay for it?
I’m going to make this prediction: by the time this deal is done, United is going to say to Boeing and Airbus…

It’s been a whirlwind travel week for me, spanning just a few continents. It started in Korea, where we broadcast the radio show from Seoul, which coincided with President Obama’s Asia trip.
Then off to report in Bangkok, one of my favorite cities in the world. I’ve been to Bangkok so many times that I have a set routine: breakfast by the Chao Phraya on the terrace at the Oriental (with the most wonderful orange juice in the world), lunch at the spice market (at the Four Seasons) and dinner on the streets. (My philosophy is that if it’s cooked, you can eat it).

I’m stopping in Seoul en route to do a story in Bangkok, which coincided with Obama’s visit today.
I first came here in 1979 and certain things remain, like the DMZ, not far from Seoul.
In 1979, when I first visited, it was described as the most dangerous place on earth … and that description could still be true when you think that the 3-mile strip of land separating the two Koreas is jammed with troops, guard posts, tanks, missiles, and bunkers. And it’s a great tour to boot.

The merger—or the absorption, if you will—of Iberia by British Airways is big news. It means that in the global marketplace, you’ll be seeing the first of many mergers and acquisitions.
Flag carriers may become a thing in the past. And when you think about, what is a flag carrier? It’s ego.
At one point, every country had to have its own carrier.
