Last year we drover Pacific Highway 1 from Los Angeles to Monterey and then back down to SanDiego. It was the absolute most fabulous, relaxing drive. We saw every imaginable vegtable growing, unbelievable ocean views at Big Sur and fell asleep at night to the waves crashing. Everyone must drive California!

I love the drive from San Francisco down the coast to Hearst Castle!

The drive along Lake Michigan from Frankfort to the Pierce Stocking National Drive with it’s panorama of Lake Michigan-dunescapes-ghost forests and color palate of Autumn is truly a hidden treasure accessible to all. Traverse City close by leads to all kinds of wineries and fabulous eateries.

We enjoy driving around Ohio to see the leaves changing colors in the fall.

A few years ago, instead of taking the highway, I took Rte 1 from Portland, Maine up to Bar Harbor. Could have spent days exploring the small, vibrant towns along the Maine seacoast like Belfast, Bath, Rockport and Camden. If it weren’t for the fact that Bar Harbor was the final destination, you could have spent days just going to the small towns in between. It was a perfect late September trip.

The blue ridge parkway is stunning in the fall! The scenery changes from sweeping vistas to small little villages along the way. Gorgeous…

The ride from Roanoke, Virginia to Martinsville, Virginia on Rte 220 is a spectacular drive when the foliage is at peak. It is also a fun road to drive, not much traffic with interesting places to stop and visit. The Blue Ridge Parkway intersects with 220 just outside Roanoke, if you are following the Parkway, it is worth your while to take a side trip down 220 south toward Martinsville.

I live in coastal Mississippi and I like to take a day trip to New Orleans this time of year. Walking around the French Quarter, with a Hurricane in hand, is about as heavenly as it gets. Blakekap1@aol.com

I’m driving from the San Francisco Bay Area to Virginia City, NV to participate in an investigation of paranormal activity at The Washoe Club in VC. I’ve noticed the fall leaves changing in the trees and I’m looking forward to the play of color in The Gold Country of California and in Lake Tahoe.

We returned from an amazing trip…We started in Las Vegas, headed east through beautiful country, part of Arizona and into stunning Utah!! OMG..The area before Zion National Park, then actually Zion, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is a must, continue east to Bryce canyon, stunning views, then east for a drive!! across Utah. Arches National Park is a must see, who knew, and uranium mines, then Moab sitting right there, beautiful. It looks like the Grand Canyon a little, like the land that time forgot. Quiet, barren, and beautiful. Then of course on to Colorado National Monument, tucked out of the way but a must see. Striking! People were actually biking up to the top/welcome center. To be so close, you must see Aspen, which must be one of the greenest cities, filled with young adults and dogs everywhere! Ride the incline. Then one last thing, head back to Vegas via St. George, lots to do, and finally begin to enjoy Vegas. Just the Venetian shopping alone and the restaurants there were awesome! Ground filet in the meatballs? To die for. The most important tip, all the National Parks give people who are handicapped for life a pass for life, free admission to any National Park for the rest of my life, wow. Peter, Tell your readers.

My daughter told me to add that the park pass is for the entire vehicle. They got in free, too. Also, the beautiful trees, mountains and rocks. From brown, white, orange, coral, red, striped, etc. She liked Little Hollywoodland in tiny town of Kanab, and there are many places to buy rocks and rock slabs/coasters, etc. Tons of fun shops around all along the way.
