Hidden Gems: Australia–Wild Tasmania

Locations in this article:  Melbourne, Australia Sydney, Australia

Looking to find a Hidden Gem of Australia? Sometimes you need to bypass the major cities of Sydney and Melbourne and travel to where Australians actually visit–down south to Tasmania.

Tasmania is one of the world’s largest islands, but it is also one of the least known and the least visited. It’s a little over 150 miles from mainland Australia, but once you’re there you are in for a rare surprise with 40 percent of the island protected as national parks and reserves.

Watch the latest installment of Hidden Gems: Australia to see how you can hike, quad bike and explore the mountains, beaches and rare wildlife of wild Tasmania.
