This, in conjunction with what will turn out to be a never-ending search for a bathroom and bedsores from hours spent parked on the ever-present “man couch” ought to make for a truly insufferable day trip.

The Dubai Mall, the largest in the world, with 10 to 15 distinct malls within the mall is the ultimate destination for nonstop shopping. With over 1,200 shops, an aquarium, and an indoor theme park including “The Redemption Zone,” the nearly 4 million square food shopping mecca is nearly inescapable in and of itself, rivaled only by the 14,000-space parking lot.

Disagree on Rotorua – I went there as part of my honeymoon in NZ and it was fantastic. Your brain adjusts to and tunes out the smell very quickly. The setting is interesting and beautiful and offbeat, and the area also offers some great thermal spas for relaxation.

And the smell definitely did not stick to our clothes. Unless you take a dip in the mud pools – not recommended as temperatures are well above boiling – I don’t see how your clothes could possibly end up stinky.

Why go to those places that are least attractive or romantic? For romantic trip a place should more than it. Avoid those places that are hot going where the climate is moderate and suits couples mood like Shenandoah Valley, Napa Valley etc.
