Travel Tip: Notable Navy Experiences

From the anniversary of D-Day to the SEALs, all eyes have been on the Navy recently.

So where can you go to learn more about this branch of our armed forces?

In Southern California, the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum, dedicated to the Naval Construction Force and U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps, is re-opening this summer in its new location. It’s the second-oldest naval museum in the country, with more than 11,000 artifacts on display.

If you’re a water buff, the Victory Rover is a Navy-themed vessel that offers two-hour cruises to give you a behind-the-scenes of the Naval Station Norfolk.

And here’s one for real enthusiasts: naval boot camp. Companies like Extreme SEAL experiences offer top-dollar courses where you can acquire skills like close-quarter combat and training on 11 different weapon systems.
