The eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjöll volcano under the Eyjafjallajökull glacier has stranded millions of travelers, but it has also created astonishing sunsets and amazing images, starting with the eruption itself.

In this video, you can see both the darker-colored volcanic ash mixed with lighter-colored steam produced from the melting Eyjafjallajökull glacier:

Scientists say it is too early to predict when Eyjafjöll will stop spewing ash.

Though aviation experts predict flights might be back in the air over most or all of Europe by early next week, there is a chance that it might take weeks before the skies have fully cleared.

And even then, once airports begin operating normally, it will likely take another 36-72 hours before the airlines are back on schedule.

As Peter explained to Maggie Rodriguez on The Early Show, with the crews and planes and even passengers out of place, the airlines will require a period of readjustment before they can resume normal operations.
