CBS Evening News: Hotel Security 2010

Uncategorized — on January 4, 2010 11:09 am

CBS News LogoWhile attempts to take down airliners hog headlines in the wake of yet another high-profile terrorist attack on travelers, it’s a good time to re-examine the overall security of the travel industry.

One area of security that has often seemed to get far less attention than planes is hotel security, despite the fact that hotel bombings have risen sharply since September 11, 2001.

While hotels on American soil have thus far been spared, American-branded hotels abroad have suffered multiple attacks over the past decade.

Americans are far to blaze about the whole terrorist issue!! I am a Brit living now in the USA, on a recent trip thru Charlotte Douglas Airport I notice a large unattended bag in the middle of the floor it sat there for 20 mins and i decied to find someone as it was conderning me. The first member of airport staff I approached retorted with ” you’re not in London Mam”!!! as I asked her to find a security member and do something about it, I had similar results with THE NEXT TWO AIRPORT STAFF I APPROACHED!!

Obviously these B&B inns are real treasures. Your article doesn’t quote rates–I’m sure they’re not cheap. I sailed on a 6-day voyage on the restored schooner “Mercantile” out of nearby Camden; but didn’t stay at any of these places.
