The Oasis of the Seas Arrives in Fort Lauderdale

Royal Caribbean’s massive new cruise ship Oasis of the Seas has arrived in Port Everglades, the cruise port of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after sailing its way across the Atlantic from its construction site in Turku, Finland.

The new Oasis of the Seas is among the largest ships to ever ply the world’s oceans, and construction began on the ship back in 2006.

With a huge array of features, including two climbing walls, a science lab for kids, a spa aimed at teens, two wave simulators and the largest garden at sea, the Oasis of the Seas is veritable city unto itself.

And at a cost of over $1 billion, it’s also among the most expensive ships in history, too.

As Peter reports for The Early Show, the ship is 20 stories high, as long as the Empire State Building is tall and has a capacity of 5400 passengers.

And with the crew, it holds more than 7000 people.
