Alternatives to Overcrowded Destinations

If you’re like me, overcrowded places aren’t your thing. Think about what you want to see and then find a lesser known, and therefore less crowded, alternative.

In Machu Picchu in Peru, nearly 2500 people visit everyday.

But here’s an alternative: it’s a place called Choquequirao, which is known as Machu Picchu’s sister site. It’s a little more rugged but you’re getting a similar experience without the crowds.

Then there’s Bali, which is a great destination, but you’re going to find far fewer crowds in the Seychelles Islands.

Not only are the islands lesser-known path, but the government actually limits the number of visitors there to 180,000 a year.

And of course there are great alternatives that are closer to home.

Instead of the Everglades, how about the Dry Tortugas?

And instead of Yosemite, try Lassen Volcanic National Park.

The bottom line here is, if a destination is on your list, it’s probably on everyone’s list.

Chances are there is an alternative that could be an even better experience.
