While you look at the postmark from this postcard you must be thinking Hang Zhou is easy to say and easy to identify—a very famous getaway city in Southern China, home of the Song Dynasty and the epicenter of the ancient silk industry.
The only problem is that Chinese is a language of intonations and so it’s pretty dicey to even tell someone where you are bound for the weekend. Most people thought I was saying Hong Qiao, which is the Shanghai domestic airport.

A bill will be introduced into the U.S. Senate today that aims to remove travel restrictions for any American who wishes to travel to Cuba, not just those who have relatives there.
The primary proponents of the Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act 2009 are Senators Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota), Christopher Dodd (D-Connecticut) and Richard Lugar (R-Indiana), who said that the 47-year-old travel ban should be lifted because it had failed to achieve its stated aim of bringing democracy to Cuba.

Volcano chasers beware: Better hold off on checking out Alaska’s Mount Redoubt because you might have difficulty getting into Anchorage airport.
Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport was closed Saturday after a series of eruptions from Mt. Redoubt sent ash shooting up to 65,000 feet into the sky.
Alaska Airlines was forced to cancel more than 185 flights as a result of the closure.

Instead of heading to Puerto Vallarta or Cancun for her college spring break, Courtney Crowder jetted off to New Orleans on a quest: to lend a hand to multiple volunteer organizations in one week.
Read on for the first of her three-part series. Can this hardened New Yorker survive a week doing manual labor in the great outdoors and really help make a difference on her journey?
When you come to work at a volunteer-based organization, you might expect to be surrounded by tree-hugging hippies. Normally I hate them.
