Sazerac
1 sugar cube
1.5 ounces of whiskey or cognac
.25 ounces of Herbsaint
3 dashes of bitters
A lemon peel
Swirl one glass with Herbsaint, discard the excess and put aside.
In a second glass, muddle the sugar cube and bitters. Add the whiskey. Pour the mixture into the Herbsaint-covered glass and garnish with a lemon peel.
For a different tasting absinthe drink, try the Death in the Afternoon which is made with equal parts of absinthe and champagne instead of whiskey. Or if you don’t want to remember the taste of the cocktail try the Corpse Reviver #2 that includes equal parts of absinthe, gin, lemon juice, cointreau and lillet blanc.
