Save Time, Money, and Travel Better with Peter's Daily Travel Tips

With all the new gadgets and applications available for computers, it’s a confusing world. Now, there’s now something called a widget. And here’s how it can help you when you travel…

A widget is an application for your computer that either gives you information, like flight schedules, entertainment, or even a calculator.

Apple has more than 70 travel widgets for Macs, which puts these tools right on your desktop.

These can include FareCompare, which compares tens of thousands of flights from several Web sites, FlightTracker, which tracks flights on all airlines, and even a public toilet locator (you know what that does).

If you have a PC, Vista lets you put widgets on your desktop, but otherwise you can use them to personalize your landing page for sites like Google and Yahoo.

You might be surprised how handy these little widgets can be when you’re on the road.
