If you’re a gourmand, you may be interested to know that many cities have secret societies of fine diners. They’re called underground restaurants, and here’s how you can join the club.

Underground restaurants are similar to speakeasies from the Prohibition era in which diners congregate to enjoy food in a secret location.

In the San Francisco Bay, the Ghetto Gourmet is a wandering supper club which meets in a different location every week.

Sign up for the email invite list and you can experience a four-course, gourmet meal for just about $30.

One Pot is a roving restaurant in the Seattle area.

To join, just send an email with your name and wait for an opening.

And in Austin, Texas, Supper Underground is a monthly dinner party that takes place in private home, often with pay-what-you want prices.

But remember, these underground dining experiences are often illegal, unlicensed and unregulated.

Some might say that’s part of the fun.
