First it was low-cost airlines, and then it was budget bus services like Peter Pan and the Chinatown bus. But now, if you have even just $1 in your pocket, it’s time to get on the bus.

A company called BoltBus is taking low-priced bus travel to the next level.

In addition to offering at least one seat $1 on each route, BoltBus has removed several rows of seats to provide extra legroom and is equipped with Wi-Fi.

Book early though, because the fuller the bus gets, the pricier the tickets are. The downside is that the only route for now is between New York City and Washington, D.C.

Meanwhile, the low-cost MegaBus is expanding rapidly throughout the country.

The budget bus started out in the Midwest, and now covers routes in California, Nevada, and much of the Northeast and into Canada, with prices starting at—you guessed it—$1.
