If you love science, sometimes reading a physics book at a coffee shop isn’t enough. At some cafes, you can actually participate in discussions with scientists while sipping on your latte.

There are currently about 60 science cafes that have been established around the United States, where customers can chat one-on-one with local scientists.

At San Francisco’s Axis Café, the Ask a Scientist program is a monthly lecture series that covers everything from astrophysics to interactive math and puzzle competitions.

At Seattle’s Science on Tap, you might spend an evening talking about alternative fuels or the effect of stress and aging on the body.

Or, you can find a local branch of Café Scientifique, which is an organization that brings together scientists and patrons for scientific conversations in cafes, bars and restaurants around the world.

You can find a science cafe near you at sciencecafes.org.
