Save Time, Money, and Travel Better with Peter's Daily Travel Tips

If you’re planning to take a road trip, you may find the rising cost of fuel can be prohibitively expensive.

Here’s how you can plan ahead to start saving on gas.

Rather than driving around to find the cheapest gas on the road, do your research ahead of time with some helpful Web sites.

GasBuddy.com has a searchable database that lists the daily gas prices by city and state.

Another site called FuelEconomy.gov offers a fuel cost calculator which allows you to compare costs based on the type of car you drive.

Additionally, you can join a gas company loyalty program, such as Exxon Mobile’s MasterCard, which earns you three percent rebates when you fill up at their stations, and Shell’s MasterCard which gives you five percent rebates.

Both companies’ Web sites have route planners, which means you can map out your drive and stop at your preferred gas station to start saving.
