Save Time, Money, and Travel Better with Peter's Daily Travel Tips

Halloween is long over, but for those of you who find bones, death or medieval punishments frightfully exciting, here are some destinations that are sure to give you some thrilling chills.

You may think of a church as a place of peace and sanctuary, but not at the Sedlec Ossuary chapel in the Czech Republic.

This church is decorated with the human bones from about 40,000 people. The chandelier, for example, is not constructed of fragile crystals but of even more delicate finger bones.

Or check out the Medieval Crime Museum in Rothenburg, Germany. Here you can view original torture devices, such as a neck violin, which punished bickering women by locking their necks together.

And, the National Museum of Funeral History in Houston, Texas offers a Fantasy Coffins exhibit, which features coffins that have been oddly carved into objects, such as a chicken, lobster, Mercedes Benz, or—our favorite—a KLM Airliner.
