When you’re traveling, keep in mind that many cities have updated and expanded their surveillance systems. Meaning that someone could be watching your every move.

The main goal of the new security systems is to catch would-be terrorists, but they could also be watching you.

Cities like Chicago and Baltimore are aggressively upping their surveillance, but the city with the most far-reaching security is New York City.

It is installing 3,000 cameras throughout the financial district, license plate readers to check against a list of suspected vehicles, and alarms that sound if someone leaves a bag or a package in a public place.

These new systems may seem a little too similar to Big Brother, but they are legal.

So while you may feel safer with all these extra sets of eyes around, remember that the new cameras could catch you on film the next time you litter or jaywalk.
