Save Time, Money, and Travel Better with Peter's Daily Travel Tips

You thought it was difficult to cash in your frequent-flier miles before? Well it’s about to get even harder.

Some airlines are making it tougher to redeem your miles. For example, Delta has two tiers of awards miles.

There are SkySaver awards, which require 25,000 points and are often difficult to cash in.

And there are SkyChoice awards, which require double the points but up until recently, were available on most flights. Well, no more.

Following in the footsteps of Northwest Airlines, Delta is making its SkyChoice seats limited, and even unavailable on some flights.

Northwest recently changed its policy language to limit the number of available 50,000-mile awards on some flights.

And, get ready for more bad news.

A number of airlines are considering upping the eligibility limit for every one of their mileage awards, and that doesn’t mean they’ll redeem them, once you get there.
