Save Time, Money, and Travel Better with Peter's Daily Travel Tips

Many restaurants tout that they use fresh and organic ingredients, but here’s one way to prove that they’re telling the truth, and travel at the same time.

Why not have dinner right on the farm?

With meals served right on the farm, diners can see exactly where their food comes from.

Joseph Decuis restaurant in Roanoke, Indiana offers something called “Farm to Fork Tours,” in which diners eat at the farm where they raise Kobe cattle and collect eggs from free-range chickens.

In the Connecticut River Valley, a company called Dinners at the Farm arranges meals prepared by chefs at 10 local farms and vineyards.

In Portland, Oregon, an organization called Plate & Pitchfork arranges meals in the field all summer long, with prices starting at $95 per person, including food and wine.

And in Florida, Rosas Farms invites guests to spend a few days learning about the healthy, organic lifestyle and then you get to prepare meals with Chef Al Rosas.
