Luxury Train Travel

It used to be that luxury train travel meant you had to travel abroad to catch the Orient Express. Now you can relive the golden age of train travel practically in your own backyard.

The scenic rail service provider GrandLuxe has joined with Amtrak to provide luxury rail travel on select routes across the United States.

Travelers can ride on a private seven-car luxury train attached to a regular service train.

Passengers riding from Washington D.C. to Miami , Chicago to San Francisco or Chicago to Los Angeles can indulge in five-course dinners, sleep in private suites and have their own butlers for the duration of the trip.

Prices start at $789 and limited-time departures are running between November and January.

The downside is that even this luxury service doesn’t guarantee that you’ll arrive on time.

But the point of riding trains really isn’t about the destination, it’s about the journey.
