Cruise ships are not all about Caribbean beaches and swilling rum in Jamaica. In fact, cruising has gone worldwide—stopping at ports you’d never expect.

Cruising is not just about beaches anymore, and the focus has shifted to more exotic ports of call.

How about a trip from Singapore to Shanghai, or a 16-day repositioning cruise from Singapore to Dubai for $2,000 on Royal Caribbean?

Holland America offers a 14-day cruise to China, Japan and Korea between Hong Kong and Osaka, Japan starting around $2,300 per person.

Princess Cruises is offering a 15-day Alaska and the Far East cruise that stops in Russia, South Korea, Japan and China, with cabins starting at $1,750 per person.

Upscale Seabourn voyages has a China itinerary that hits Hong Kong, Shanghai and several other Chinese ports, with fares starting around $4,600.
