Scenic Trains for Kids

If you want to get your kids to appreciate other types of travel besides SUVs and planes, try out these scenic trains that cater especially to kids.

The Grand Canyon Railway in Arizona has a “Polar Express Package” starting at $289 for two adults and two children, which takes you from Arizona to the “North Pole.”

Kids can enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, listen to the story of The Polar Express, and see Santa Claus and his reindeer at the end of the trip.

The Cass Scenic Railroad State Park in West Virginia has several train specials, such as the “Murder Mystery Train,” including a buffet dinner, entertainment, and of course the whodunit mystery. Tickets for adults are $37.50, and $27.50 for children.

The Essex Steam Train in Connecticut has a “Day Out with Thomas the Tank Engine,” where kids can take the train on Valley Railroad while playing games. All aboard for family fun!
