Save Time, Money, and Travel Better with Peter's Daily Travel Tips

Between long layovers and delayed flights, sleeping in airports might not seem like a bad idea. But before you try it, here’s what you need to know.

If you’re looking for a quick nap, the transit lounges in most airports can do in a pinch.

But some airports, like those in Vancouver, Dubai and Istanbul, do offer sleeping pods or by-the-hour airport hotels for naps.

If you do get stranded overnight in an airport due to flight delays, make sure to ask your airline for a hotel or sleeping pod voucher.

If a hotel or sleeping pod isn’t available, visit The Budget Traveller’s Guide to Sleepinginairports.net.

This site offers the inside scoop from other travelers on the best places to sleep-and hands out the Golden Pillow award to the most sleep-conducive airports around the world.

And while you’re there, check out Donna’s favorites, which can be both funny and insightful.

For more information on sleeping in odd places, check out Couch Surfing, or if you’d like to take a dose in an internet cafe to save a few yen, see Japan on a Budget.
