Travelers with mobility problems can sometimes find it tough to enjoy nature with their families, but here are some outdoor destinations that are accessible for families of all mobility levels.
On the Capital Crescent Trail just outside Washington, D.C., wheelchair bound visitors can cross bridges, pass historic mills, and get plenty of exercise and fresh air.
At City Creek Canyon in Salt Lake City, even visitors with major accessibility problems can meander along a paved trail among joggers and bird-watchers while taking in the scenery.
In L.A.’s famous Griffith Park, visitors will find Shane’s Inspiration, an accessible playground with slides, tunnels, tire swings, sand boxes, and even a miniature “driving” area, complete with lanes and stop signs.
